It’s exciting to see a dream realized and on September 18, 2006, Wackler
Wellness president, Rebecca Wackler, watched as 25 members of the Lennox Senior Center in Inglewood, California started their first fitness class. Wackler Wellness' first exercise program for fixed-income seniors has begun. Rebecca has worked and planned for this moment for two years. With the help of a number of private donors, her dream has become a reality.
Lead by Ayesha Dobyns, a certified personal trainer who is fluent in Spanish,
the predominantly Latino seniors work out twice a week for one hour.
Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer, Dobyns also has a degree in nutrition.
The chair fitness class includes exercises that improve strength, range of motion, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance, and neuromuscular coordination. Participants use exertubing and weights as a part of the program.
Lennox Center seniors are raving about the improvements they are already
noticing in their health. They are looking forward to adding a third session in
the not too distant future.
If you would like to see this program expand, please make a donation to Wackler Wellness. You’ll be helping older adults live healthier, more productive
lives. See our contact page for our address.
